The Swifts v Comets on Friday 11 May 2018

The Swifts v Comets match held on Friday 11 May was one of the more exciting matches we have had. Please find enclosed the Match Score Sheet.

As you will note, there were some close games with players on both sides being fairly evenly skilled - Comets came out on top winning 7-5!

Fantastic result as it means Comets are still unbeaten!

With the Singles matches we saw some really good games. Krish continued his excellent run of winning his Singles (And Doubles) games which means he has yet to drop a game in any of the friendly matches we have played with other clubs thus far, tremendous achievement! Further wins for Sunay and Oliver Y meant after the first phase the scores were tied at 3-3.

And then came the Doubles matches.

Sai/Sunay lost a close first match to 17, but scores were level swiftly after Oliver B and Ria paired up to comfortably win their Doubles match. A very good result considering this was a new mixed doubles pairing and clearly holds promise for forthcoming tournaments.

Krish and Oliver Y's doubles partnership proved very effective against some decent opposition. Krish's excellent net-play saw their opponents forced to lift a lot of shots and Oliver Y made no mistake in attacking these to great effect with some powerful smashes. They won both their doubles matches.

Sai/Sunay won an excellent second doubles match, notably Sai's attacking shots started to fire again after a number of unforced errors in their first match.

We took the Doubles 4-2, winning overall.

Well done Team Comets!

These matches give us the opportunity to observe our players in a competitive environment and gauge the shot-making decisions they make under these conditions. Certainly, quite a few areas to work on based on our observations and we will look to work on this during our club sessions.
